UK industrial electricity prices are amongst the highest in the developed world. Energy-intense companies need them to come down to compete globally and grow. BCIC WM is working with network companies, regulators and policy-makers to achieve this.
BCIC WM has secured £50M in capital grants for new equipment that reduces energy costs for West Midlands firms.
BCIC WM runs quarterly liaison meetings with gas and electricity network companies to minimise the costs of engaging with the power networks and make it easier to identify cost-efficient solutions.
BCIC WM supports Electrify Industry and MAKE UK in advocating for guaranteed electricity cost contracts for energy-efficient manufacturers. We support calls for accessible small modular nuclear power, and for a discrete low cost industrial power pool.
We encourage politicians and civil servants to visit manufacturing sites to appreciate at first hand how industry operates across the UK and to encourage better, more efficient policy-making.
